On October 9th, 2024 we will set sail from Athens on our trusty Vasco da Gama and indulge in the beach and nightlife in Mykonos the next day. So that everyone can enjoy the island to the fullest, we don't set off until 3 a.m. the next morning. Afterwards we can relax for a day at sea and experience the pool games together. On the third day we reach Cyprus, where we will anchor in Larnaca. Larnaca is located on the southern coast of Cyprus and is known for its city beach and palm-lined waterfront. From here, excursions also take us to the Turkish part of the island, for example to ancient Salamis. We reach Haifa overnight. Here we have the whole day available for excursions to Tel Aviv, which is only an hour away and has a dynamic scene. You can also explore Jerusalem or other destinations from here, as we don't leave Haifa until 5 p.m. the next day. The city itself is enchanting with its hanging gardens, at the foot of which lies the German colony with shops, galleries and restaurants in 19th century buildings. Another sea day takes us to Crete on October 16th, which invites you to extend your vacation with its countless beaches.
The ship
The environmentally friendly Vasco da Gama is once again available as a ship with a manageable number of guests of under 1,000 travelers. The Vasco impresses with its two pools, the larger of which has a lockable glass roof and can therefore be used in any weather.
The Vasco da Gama has four different cabins on decks 4, 5, 6, 9 and 10. These differ in 129 inside cabins with 16sqm, 352 outside cabins with 17sqm, 120 balcony cabins with 21sqm and 28 suites including balconies with 34sqm.
Vasco da Gama also plays in the top league when it comes to gastronomy. It has three a la carte restaurants, among which the Asian-themed “Fusion” impresses with its special attention to detail.
Entertainment
In addition to the on-board show program, numerous highlights will once again ensure enthusiasm. Our artists include the Italian-born pianist and singer Stefano May, as well as many others that we are gradually releasing.
Small acts such as karaoke, readings, quizzes, instrumental artists and acrobats are planned for the varied bars and lounges. By the way, everyone can make their own contribution to the colorful program by taking part in the contest to decorate the cabin doors.
A highlight will be the pool games with the election of Mr. Cruise on the first day at sea. The candidates have to master various sporting challenges and undergo all-round games that are almost suitable for young people.
Due to popular requests from our guests, the popular theme parties are being expanded, where guests can let their imaginations run wild for costumes. We will announce the topics over the next few weeks. The celebration takes place in the fully glazed 270° viewing lounge THE DOME on deck. Musically, the selection ranges from pop and club sounds to house and techno, for example by our resident DJ Chris Bekker. If you want to let off steam afterwards, you can do so on our nudist deck, which is also open at night.
Bars, Lounges und Restaurants
Vasco da Gama also plays in the top league when it comes to gastronomy. It has three a la carte restaurants, among which the Asian-themed “Fusion” impresses with its special attention to detail. This also includes stylish Japanese tables at floor level. But the buffet restaurant also stands out conceptually. It is more reminiscent of a food court with different culinary stations. European dishes are served in the “Waterfront” with its 150 seats. The restaurant is designed in an exclusive style. “The Grill” is the specialty restaurant on board and has 66 seats. The “Chefs Table” with its 14 seats can be booked for a surcharge for a larger group on celebratory occasions, such as weddings, silver weddings, birthdays, etc. The Alfresco Grill is the bistro for in between when you come back from a trip or when you get hungry by the pool. The pizzas, burgers or hot dogs are all included in the tour price.
Spa and Sports
Wellness is very important on the “Vasco da Gama”. The gym, located next to the spa, is open 24 hours and has plenty of equipment. These include 11 spinning bikes, 5 steppers, 7 treadmills, 5 seated bikes, 14 weight machines, 2 rowing machines and a large selection of free weights. In the spa, dry and steam saunas are included in the tour price. The jogging trail is on the top deck.
The Vasco da Gama has two pool areas - one is prominently located at the stern of the ship with spacious sunbathing areas. The other is located amidships and is equipped with a movable roof, which only a tiny number of cruise ships have. There is also an elegant wellness area with a sauna and steam bath, a large fitness center and sports areas on the outside decks. The “Hollywood's” show theater extends over two decks and offers first-class evening entertainment.
The cabins
The Vasco da Gama has four different cabins on decks 4, 5, 6, 9 and 10. These differ in 129 inside cabins with 16sqm, 352 outside cabins with 17sqm, 120 balcony cabins with 21sqm and 28 suites including balconies with 34sqm. There are at least two pieces of seating on the balconies. The inside cabins are equipped with a bathroom and shower. The outside cabins have either a shower or a bathtub. All cabins are equipped with a flat screen television. The beds can be placed separately or together. Some of the sofa can be converted into a bed and can therefore accommodate a third person.
